drinkupmehearties: (Pirate's life for me)
The silence after Jack speaks unravels out into the air for what seems like an eternity, his gaze locked on Faramir's face, searching for any sign or hint that the man doubted his words. It does come as an abrupt surprise, then, when Faramir moves to place a hand on his shoulder and embrace him. In fact, Jack's entire body is decidedly stiff with the unexpected contact -- he'd half expected for Faramir to strike him. Or worse.

But once he pulls away, Jack's expression has snapped back to an easy, affable calm, once more meeting Faramir's troubled gaze. He pauses a moment, considering, then says, "Try not to bear too much of that burden on your shoulders, mate. She's safe now." He's glad, in a way, to know Eowyn has someone like this to grapple with what had happened back in Panem, to help cope. He steps back to give the two of them space and a moment, something in his face softening at the sight.

Then Jack seems to remember where he is, why he's here, and briefly shoots a glance over in Aragorn's direction. He circles around the two of them a few paces, aware of the guards watching him move, and lifts a finger. "Sad as I am to interrupt this touching moment with you two lovebirds, truly, I am, I'm keen to discuss the matter of my imprisonment here. Particularly keeping in mind debts owed and that gratitude."
