Faramir looks at the pirate for a long time, his gaze searching and his expression unreadable. At last, he lets out a long, slow breath, letting go of Éowyn's hand and striding over to Jack. One hand - slender and dark, calloused with wear - drops onto Jack's shoulder.
"I call it a debt owing," he says at last, quietly, and (no doubt to Jack's surprise) draws him into an embrace, brief but warm. When he steps back, something has eased a little in his demeanour, but he is not smiling. In fact, there is something close to grief glittering in his steel-grey eyes. "I would she had told me sooner. I would I had known, that I might have offered her some comfort. Yet if I could not be there, it gladdens me to know she stood not alone. I would not have you think me ungrateful."
Éowyn herself looks a little overcome at that. With a glance at the dais where the King and Queen sit, she strides over to her husband's side and puts her arms around him, pulling him close. She isn't big on public displays of affection, certainly not the same way Faramir is, but in this case...
Well, some part of it is the guilt about Jack, a far greater part is the guilt of not telling him about Panem before now. The greatest part of all is just... love. Love, and gratitude. Rarely has she felt more fortunate in her choice of husband.
