drinkupmehearties: (Nothing personal)
Jack lets himself be escorted by the two guards without complaint, silent, sparing only brief, curious glances to the people that shuffle about the palace as they pass. He'd wondered, when Eowyn hadn't returned to speak with him after that first time, whether she'd simply left him to the King's judgement and washed her hands of the situation. Not a happy possibility, but he wouldn't blame her if so.

But once they arrive in the throne room and Jack spots her, faint relief edges into his otherwise placid expression. When his gaze shifts to Aragorn and Arwen, however, the rest of that cool composure melts into plain surprise. He'd spoken with both of them back in Panem; Aragorn had been kind enough to share a meal with him in the Arena when food had been scarce, Arwen had spoken to him about music at one of those silly Crownings. Surely, then, Jack muses, they'd recognize him and dismiss this whole issue. He even opens his mouth to say something to that effect, but quickly realizes there's no recognition in either of their eyes. They don't know who he is.

The sentiment is only moreso confirmed when Aragorn speaks to him. Jack's eyes unwittingly slide over to Eowyn at the question, to the man standing beside her (easy enough to guess that it's her husband), then his gaze snaps back over to Aragorn.

He clears his throat. "Aye, it is. We know each other."
